10,000 Days is the fourth studio album by American rock band Tool. The album was released by Tool Dissectional and Volcano Entertainment on April 28, 2006 in parts of Europe, April 29, 2006 in Australia, May 1, 2006 in the United Kingdom, and on May 2, 2006 in North America. Recording took place at O'Henry Sound Studios in Burbank, California, The Loft, and Grandmaster Studios both in Hollywood, California. It marked the first time since recording 1993's Undertow that the band had worked at. That is approximately the number of years in a Saturn Return look it up. To those that follow astrology, a Saturn Return denotes a period in a person's life when they are getting rid of a lot of 'baggage', or 'throwing out all of the garbage' that has cluttered up their life, to make way for a 'new start'. 10,000Days is almost as adventurous as Laturalus but a bit more mystical. I might say that this album has the power to keep you listening Every single track is over 7 minutes long. Thankfully, 10,000 Days was worth the labor pains and wait to deliver. It's not only a step forward for the band, but a re-embracing of the epic-length rock songs found at the roots of early heavy metal. The album starts out with Vicarious, which features some of Maynard's most straightforward lyrics since Ænema's Hooker with a Penis. Maynard James Keenan vocals. Adam Jones guitar, sitar, art director. Justin Chancellor bass guitar, additional guitar 7. Danny Carey drums, percussion, tabla. Rocked: Album Review: Tool 10,000 Days A look back at Tools 2006 album 10,000 Days. 1 on the Billboard 200. The title refers to Saturns orbital period, although, the actual time frame is 10,759 days-or, roughly 27 years. According to vocalist Maynard James Keenan: Thats the time in your twenty eighth, twenty ninth year when you are presented the opportunity to transform from whatever your hang-ups were before to let the light of knowledge and experience lighten your load, so to speak, and let go of old patterns and embrace a new life. Roughly 10,000 days passed between his mother having a stroke and dying, which explains the title and lack of concept quite simply no need for the conceptual bollocks that weighed down Lateralus, then. Wings For Marie Part 1 and 10,000 Days, the two songs that explicitly refer to her, stand as highlights, the latter being far more gripping over 11 minutes than Jambi was at 7. It's Justin Chancellor who really impresses here, laying down one of the best basslines of his career on 10,000 Days. Nor is the conclusion that his mother is an angel - '10,000 Days in the fire is long enoughYou're coming home'. This, at least, is new ground for Tool. When Tool released their fourth album, 10,000 Days on May 2, 2006, fans had been waiting five years for the follow-up to Lateralus. Before that, they waited five years for the follow-up to Ænima. You couldnt fault the quartet for what they did with the time: Each Tool LP is an exercise in dense, experimental, multi-textured expression that couldnt come together quickly. The title 10,000 Days was soon used online as a reference to fans waiting times, but it may itself have been an indicator of how the band had changed again and, in particular, how frontman Maynard James Keenan had change. 10,000 days is the Grammy-Award winning fourth full-length studio album by Tool. By the end of 2006 the album had sold almost 3 million copies worldwide and in June 2006 the album was given a Platinum award by the RIAA.
