The Clash: Were an English rock band formed in London in 1976 as a key player in the original wave of British punk rock. They also contributed to the post-punk and new wave movements that emerged in the wake of punk and employed elements of a variety of genres including reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joe Strummer, lead guitarist and vocalist Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon, and drummer Nicky Topper Headon. Headon left the group in 1982 and internal friction led to Jones' dep. Listen free to The Clash The Clash Janie Jones, Remote Control and more. 14 tracks 34:56. On 25 January 1977, The Clash signed to CBS Records for 100,000, a remarkable amount for a band that had played a total of about thirty gigs and almost none as a headliner. As Clash historian Marcus Gray describes, the band members found themselves having to justify to both the music press and to fans who picked up on the critics' muttered asides about The Clash having 'sold out' to the establishment. Mark Perry, founder of the leading London punk periodical, Sniffin' Glue, let loose with what he would later call his big quote: Punk died the da. 14 July '79 - The Clash play The Rainbow Theatre. Janie Jones Lyrics. The debut album by British punk rock band The Clash was released on April 8th, 1977. Upon its release, it was met with great praise and shot up to the 12 spot on the United Kingdom Album Charts. By the time it made its way over to the United States in 1979, it was praised even more. The album even had the pleasure of having Robert Christgau of the Village Voice saying its the greatest rock and roll album ever manufactured in the anywhere. Decades after its release, its still held as one of the greatest punk albums ever made. Though the cliché about punk rock was that the bands couldn't play, the key to the Clash is that although they gave that illusion, they really could play - hard. The charging, relentless rhythms, primitive three-chord rockers, and the poor sound quality give the album a nervy, vital energy. Joe Strummer's slurred wails perfectly compliment the edgy rock, while Mick Jones' clearer singing and charged guitar breaks make his numbers righteously anthemic. Альбом 2014 Песен: 91
