Released in Elements is a sampler of Pete Townshend's gargantuan six-disc box set The Lifehouse Chronicles, itself the culmination of nearly 30 years of work on his intended follow-up to Tommy. Though much of it was recorded for Who's Next, Townshend never abandoned Lifehouse, eventually completing it in 1999. It debuted that year as a radio play for the BBC and that play, along with selections of demos, experiments, and orchestrations, were collected on the box only available through . Lifehouse Elements contains highlights from the collection, capturing all the joys an. Lifehouse Elements is a single CD sampler of the 6-CD Box Set The Lifehouse Chronicles released by Pete Townshend in 2000. The song New Song is not found in the box set. The CD was released 23 May 2000 in the US by Redline Entertainment. Pete Townshend's Lifehouse Elements is a collection of songs from the 6-cd boxed set Lifehouse Chronicles available on his website. As many fans are aware, Townshend's delayed Lifehouse project ultimately finished in 1999 figured prominently in the Who's masterful Who's Next album and several of these terrific songs are performed entirely by Townshend on this release. The idea of music as a grand unifier laid the groundwork for Lifehouse , which imagined a future in which most people drift through meaningless lives wired into a sort of virtual reality, with the exception of a few stragglers and some kids, natch who find a way to reawaken the human race with a communal rock concert.
