Текст песни: Everything. Devoured I learn to hold my, will power Everything. Devoured I learn to hold my, will Gasoline is a 1985 EP release taking the form of two 12 singles by Cabaret Voltaire, originally released on the Some Bizzare label and distributed through Virgin Records. All four tracks are featured on the band's Gasoline in Your Eye videocassette, also issued in 1985. All known copies of the original UK pressing had labels on the wrong discs ie, side 1 label on side 3, side 2 label on side 4. It peaked at 71 in the UK. All songs were written by Richard H. Kirk and Stephen Mallinder. Cabaret Voltaire - Drinking Gasoline EP 1985. To favorites 0 Download album. Listen album. Cabaret Voltaire. Songs in album Cabaret Voltaire - Drinking Gasoline EP 1985. The perfect combination of their early experimental noise and later dance pop. Read more. Originally had Drinking Gasoline on dble 12 with some pressing flaws 'pips' seemed to be quite common on Virgin Cabs vinyl around that time, which had a real punch to it. Then got the CD reissue, which sounded like all the life, and most of the bass, had been sucked out of it. It was crisp but unbelievably tinny sounding . One of their best but I remember it being a difficult listen when it came out.

Bought in 1985, but I guess I wasn't ready for the music. For sure: sensoria, just facination as the track kino which is on this 2x12" (this is not a lp!) are similar, very similar in the sound structure. By hearing the 4tracks complete, I have to admit: a classic after all these years.

Folks can be very precious about specific eras & tracks when it comes to a much loved & multi-decade long outfit such as Cabaret Voltaire. The band clearly had distinct periods, as any musicians would when considering their longevity & staggering quality control. My advice? As a rule, buy everything you can by Cabaret Voltaire AND Richard H Kirk , even on sight. Why? Listen to "Ghost Talk" off this record and experience a true slab of wonky "ahead of its time" proto-house. Then rewind it & play it again, then again, its funk is that infectious. If yer lucky enough to be stumbling on them anew with fresh ears, try listening to their entire catalog chronologically (in an ideal world). Your mind, body, heart & soul will thank you for it.For a true cultural force to continue with such dedication to the many sound-signature guises it created (from darkest headfuck to deep house) and to have retained its very own distinct & recognizable imprint across 99% of them takes talent way beyond the reaches of certain names worshiped as beacons of electronic musical creativity. Cabaret Voltaire tower over many of these, simply by simultaneously ripping & seducing the listener into realms of sound that border on the unimaginable. Potent currents indeed & added to that their material rarely ages too, which tells its own story of continual technical experimentation.Drinking Gasoline is a testament to the spirit of a group firing at full throttle and may the gods bless them for achieving what they did here. Twelfty/10

When I bought this in 1997 I knew CV from other stuff so got in on faith (no record player in store). I didn't like it that much so stored it away for a while...what a refreshing surprise to re-discover it about five years ago, clearing out my storage.. amazing how one's taste matures over time! As a DJ you look for well-produced tracks with good sounds and structure that can blend well, not necessarily hits (had I known this when I started I would have a much better collection today..live and learn). The tracks are cut on a whole side of vinyl, so the sound, esp. the bass, leaps off it...they are not classic headliners but they have a sparse beauty and funkiness, so well-made, so FUNKY and ever-fresh that they can be mixed with a lot of types of music...disco, industrial, etc.

Don't like these tracks and I like good new wave.Front 242,for example,in there early years were much better,if you asked me!
  • Unh
Drinking Gasoline is a masterwork of electronic-music. The sound is comparable with the music from FRONT 242.

This release contains the very best of funk from Sheffield at the time and it still stands out as a magic, danceable, raw and very, very funky electronic masterpiece from the eighties. The speed and power in these beautiful (Neville Brody) vinyls is - in my estimation - breathtaking. I could play these four tracks at any club over and over again just for the big funk hell that they bring... All my respect to Kirk/Mallinder for bringing these rough landscapes to the world!
  • Fararala
Four top dancefloor tunes from Sheffield's finest - still fresh, typical depth in production from Cabaret Voltaire / Flood / Tokes. My copy has the labels the wrong way round!
  • Rainshaper
If I'm not mistaken, the entire edition suffered this fault but it might add to the charm of guessing which song is which. :)
