Blind Willie Johnson: все альбомы, включая Eu Tive Medo , Les pionniers du Blues, Vol. 2 : Blind Willie Johnson , If I Had My Way и другие. The Complete Blind Willie Johnson is a compilation album of all the known recordings by American gospel blues singer-guitarist Blind Willie Johnson. As part of the Roots N' Blues series, it was released jointly by Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, on April 27, 1993. All of the tracks on the two-compact disc set were originally issued by Columbia on the then-standard two-sided 78 rpm record format. Blind Willie Johnson January 25, 1897 September 18, 1945 was an American gospel blues singer, guitarist and evangelist. His landmark recordings completed between 1927 and 1930-thirty songs in total-display a combination of powerful chest voice singing, slide guitar skills, and originality that has influenced later generations of musicians. Even though Johnson's records sold well, as a street performer and preacher, he had little wealth in his lifetime. His life was poorly documented, but over. If you've never heard Blind Willie Johnson, you are in for one of the great, bone-chilling treats in music. Johnson played slide guitar and sang in a rasping, false bass that could freeze the blood. But no bluesman was he this was gospel music of the highest order, full of emotion and heartfelt commitment. Of all the guitar-playing evangelists, Blind Willie Johnson may have been the very best. Though not related by bloodlines to Robert Johnson, comparisons in the emotional commitment of both men cannot be helped. This two-CD anthology collects everything known to exist, and that's a. Blind Willie Johnson was born in Texas about 1902. At age 5, Johnson announced to his father that he was going to become a preacher and fashioned his first guitar out of a cigar box. Johnson was not born blind, and, although it is not specifically known how his condition came about, it is widely believed that his stepmother, in a fit of rage, blinded him when he was 7 years old by throwing lye in his face. Angelina accompanied Johnson on some of his recordings for Columbia Records between 1927 and 1930. He sang in a rasping false bass, and played bottleneck guitar with uncanny left-handed strength, accuracy and agility. The album is a collection of all of Johnson's released works, 30 songs in total, which were recorded between 1927 and 1930 at a variety of different Columbia studios. All of the tracks on The Complete Willie Johnson were previously reissued on other compilations, such as Praise God, I'm Satisfied however, this album marks the first time all of Johnson's recordings were compiled on one set. The tracks on the album originate from five recording dates between December 3, 1927 and April 20, 1930. Blind Willie Johnson is firmly in the top ranks of 1920 and 1930s blues players. His name should be far better known than it is. These recordings were made by Columbia Records during several recording sessions between December 1927 and April 1930. The sound is quite acceptable for recordings of that era. Blind Willie Johnson's guitar playing is first rate. Blind Willie Johnson January 25, 1897 September 18, 1945 was a gospel blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. While the lyrics of his songs were usually religious, his music drew from both sacred and blues traditions. It is charac read more. Similar Artists. Play all. Son House. Blind Willie Johnson.
